Breakfast with Greg Rusedski…

A couple of summers ago, a few Ones to Watch readers had themselves a grand day out at London’s Queen’s Club…

Queen’s is a prestigious Wimbledon warm-up tournament, and a long-standing tradition in the grass court season.

Around all the big sporting events, whether it’s the tennis Grand Slams or the football World Cup, many companies give away tickets, merchandise and VIP experiences in the form of free-to-enter prize draws and competitions.

If there’s a question to answer in order to qualify, it’s usually something super-simple like, ‘In what city is Wimbledon held?’

The key is just to get your name in the hat. As the old saying goes, you have to be in it to win it...

Back in June 2017, I flagged up a couple of Queen’s Club competitions in your weekly Ones to Watch email. Barely a fortnight later, three readers got in touch to say they’d won...

"Thank you for prompting readers to apply for tickets to Queen's... I've just had an email this morning to say that I'd won a pair of Centre Court tickets. What a fantastic surprise"
Michael D

"I have won premium tickets (£150 each) for Queen's... which includes a free breakfast attended by Greg Rusedski and a cool bag of food to eat and drink at the tournament"
Roger P

"RE: Breakfast with Greg Rusedski... I have also won two centre court tickets at Queen's for the quarter finals and you will never guess who is coming to breakfast. Taking my tennis nut mum who is thrilled to pieces, really looking forward to the day"
Barry F

Win the tennis holiday of a lifetime…

Sadly, there’s going to be no Queen’s event or Wimbledon this summer. But when the tennis returns there are sure to be some great ‘comps’ around for VIP trips to the US Open, for example.

And you can get your name in the hat for a fantastic tennis prize today, with this cracker being offered by Tennishead magazine…

A tennis holiday for two in Croatia, worth over £1,500. Including:

  • 5-star hotel

  • 4 nights half board

  • Spa treatment

  • 6 hours of tennis coaching

All the details are on the link below. It sounds pretty fancy. And when this ‘lockdown’ period is over, we’re all going to be craving a holiday, as well as some tennis…

It’s free to enter. The answer to the question on the form is ‘Croatia.’ The closing date is 1st May. It only takes a few seconds to get your name in the hat and be in with a chance of winning.

And if you happen to be the lucky winner, all I ask is that you let me know!

There’s plenty more where that came from…

That tennis holiday is just one of the fantastic prizes listed right now on the Simply Prizes website. Published by the same company that brings you Ones to Watch, I’m kept in the loop by the ‘comping’ team in the office. They alert me every time a sports prize comes up.

Competitions on the Simply Prizes site right now range from quirky ones like ‘Win a year’s supply of Horlicks.’ To the more valuable and exotic end of the spectrum, where you have the comping Big Three of Cash, Cars & Holidays...

There are also competitions with money-can’t-buy, VIP experiences. Sammy, the lady behind Simply Prizes, has won numerous holidays herself over the years, including a luxury trip to Sri Lanka and a cruise from Dubai.

And Sammy has seen some truly mind-blowing prizes up for grabs in the past, such as a trip down to the Titanic in a submersible… the chance to win a private jet for a week with enough fuel included to fly around the world… and even the chance to go into Space.

Last summer I won a gin distillery tour, and I’ve got to say it was a nice surprise and a great winning feeling when that email landed in my inbox. Not to mention a great day out testing the gin.

If you find yourself on lockdown right now and with a bit of time on your hands at home, why not take a few minutes every day to enter some prize draws online…

I’ll be back next week. I’ve got a couple of improving players to put in our Ones to Watch notes, as potential future Grand Slam winners...

Have a good Easter, and take care of yourself.

Best wishes,
