Tennis Betting Advice - April 2023
Ones to Watch in Monte Carlo - at 10/1 and 150/1...
Monday 10th April 2023
Good evening. I feel we're edging closer to landing a big finalist...
Last week, 25/1 Each Way shot Kamilla Rakhimova hit the bar for us in the 'money match,' losing by two sets to one in the WTA Bogota semi finals.
The golf was an enjoyable Easter weekend distraction. Two of my four Masters runners - 35/1 Viktor Hovland and 28/1 Cameron Young - came in the standard Each Way places (Top 8). And 100/1 shot Sahith Teegala was 9th. We'll certainly look again when the next golf Majors come along this spring & summer.
Back to the tennis, and this week's main focus on the tour is ATP Monte Carlo, the first men's clay-court 1000-grade Masters event of the season...
I'll keep things quick here as it's late at night as I write, and Tuesday's play gets underway from 10am, UK time.
Looking beyond the biggest names at the top of the betting, world no.1 Novak Djokovic at Evens (2.0), and two-time reigning Monte Carlo champion Stefanos Tsitsipas at 6/1. Both of whom are making their 2023 clay debuts here.
I like the chances of the two super-good young men just a notch or two down the list...
Jannik Sinner and Casper Ruud at 10/1+ each. Both are genuine contenders for future world no.1's, and can start making the breakthrough at Masters 1000 level with frequency from now on.
Along with a big-odds outsider from each side of the draw, too...
Both of these guys hit big, and have won more matches on clay in their respective careers than on any other surface:
Lorenzo Sonego at 100/1+ - a former quarter-finalist here. Who can cause Daniil Medvedev problems if & when they meet in round two, with the Russian making no secret of the fact that clay isn't his favourite playing surface.
Jiri Lehecka at 80/1 - a recent Ones to Watch pick for us at chunky Each Way prices, Jiri has the air of an exciting young player who might just click soon for a big tournament run...
A note on the bookies here. With the likes of Djokovic and co at the front of the field, several firms have gone with reduced Each Way terms of 1/3 odds for 1-2 places. The bookies I've listed below all have the standard and preferred 1/2 odds 1-2. Although you may struggle to get much of a bet on with Unibet, 10Bet & LiveScoreBet. While Bet365 and Betfred would stand firmer, one would hope. With Boylesports and Betway in the mix here, too.
