Well, that didn't last long...

RE: Caroline Garcia for WTA Stuttgart

Good morning. I'm assuming a few members managed to get the 50/1 at Betfred late last night. I stayed online to see what would happen before I went to bed. The 50/1 was mercilessly chopped to 16/1, inside 20 minutes. That's bookmakers for you, I suppose...

If you managed to grab the 50/1, good work. If not, don't worry at all. With this one, we shouldn't be too concerned by the price drop...

Betfred's 50/1 was always an outlier in the field. Garcia was more like a 22/1 shot in general when the Outright Winner prices appeared at the start of the week. With play resuming at 11am, she's still 22/1 with the likes of Bet365, William Hill, BetVictor. And 20/1 at Betway, Ladbrokes & Coral. With those firms all offering the standard Each Way terms of 1/2 odds 1-2 places.

Our Ones to Watch betting doesn't always involve such a scramble...

There will be plenty of opportunities to get on our picks at prices generally available, or that stick around for a lot longer than 20 minutes (!)...

For example, our summer Grand Slam pick, Taylor Fritz. Backed on 2nd March for Wimbledon at 50/1 with Bet365 or 40/1 in general. And for the US Open at 33/1 with most firms. Those prices are still available.

That's all from me for now. Our outsider picks for Stuttgart are set to be in action on Thursday: Qinwen Zheng, Anastasia Potapova - and Caroline Garcia.

Enjoy the tennis…

Best wishes,

Tom Wilson
