Tennis Betting Advice - February 2022
Tuesday match picks at 15/1...
Tuesday 15th February 2022
Brandon Nakashima made a near-flawless start to the week in Delray Beach. The 20-year-old American took less than an hour to defeat compatriot Denis Kudla, 6-1, 6-1.
In yesterday’s ATP Delray Beach preview, we backed Nakashima at a best-price 12/1 Each Way in the Outright Winner market. Along with another young American, Sebastian Korda, at similar prices – 11/1 & 10/1. The 20-year-old Korda plays tonight, and he’s going in the book as a match bet selection today…
With five tournaments on the schedule this week, there are loads of matches to shoot at…
I’ve been going through the Tuesday list, and there are seven men’s match-ups in particular where I like the chances of the favourite coming through. And on the side of the underdog, two women’s encounters where the outsider could make life tricky for the bigger name.
Starting with the seven men (tournament in brackets):
An accumulator on all seven to win pays 15/1.
Over at WTA Dubai, there are two women’s matches that catch my eye this afternoon…
We had a winner on Siniakova last time she faced two-time Grand Slam champion Muguruza, backed at 11/4 (3.75) in Montreal last August. That day, the Czech underdog won through in three sets, 2-1. All three of their career meetings have been close. With a 2-1 win for the Spaniard, and a 7-6, 7-6 victory for Siniakova in-between.
This will be Muguruza’s first match since being shocked at the Australian Open by Alize Cornet last month. Siniakova has come through the Dubai qualifying rounds in fine fettle, winning all three matches without losing a set.
The underdog win is a top price of 9/4 (3.25) today. Always – always – on the hunt for the best possible price, I prefer 11/2 (6.5) in the Set Betting market for another 2-1 score to Siniakova.
I might sound like a broken record here. We’re only in February, and already this year we’ve spoken quite a lot about Sabalenka’s struggles. She’s always been hit-or-miss. And so far in 2022, it’s been a real scrappy formbook, with (literally) dozens of Double Faults and Unforced Errors.
The main theme from a betting point of view – as I’ve outlined before – is Sabalenka’s propensity for playing out three-set matches.
The Belarusian world no.2 has played six matches this season, and five of them have gone the full length to a final set. She’s won more of those than she’s lost – coming from a set down to win 2-1 on three occasions at the Aussie Open last month.
Teenager Kostyuk is a player I like – the 19-year-old is on our new Ones to Watch in 2022 list. But Marta is also prone to erratic performances and dramatic swings in form during matches. For all her ball-striking talent and potential, the Ukrainian hasn’t yet added the steely reliability needed for me to regularly back her to beat the higher-ranked players outright.
For me, this match looks a prime contender for another Sabalenka 2-1 scenario. That Set Betting option is 3/1+ (4.0+).
Play starts in these matches from 3pm, UK time…
