Two underdog picks for this afternoon...

There are some 50 matches on today’s schedule. Spanning five tournaments. Across the men’s and women’s tours. Ranging from Mexico and Chile, to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
Sometimes I wish the events were more evenly spread out. But after lockdown and the last couple of years, I’m not going to complain about too much tennis.
Last Tuesday we did well with half-a-dozen match picks. Today I like the look of these two underdogs. I believe both can outperform their prices:
Marton Fucsovics to beat Denis Shapovalov @ 13/8
Shapovalov is the kind of player you have to follow when he’s flying – and oppose when he’s struggling. That might sound obvious, but the young Canadian really does fit that temperamental mould. Lately he’s been losing matches he was the favourite to win, smashing rackets, and serving a nasty number of double faults. Fucsovics has put in some good performances on hard courts lately, is a strong-minded competitor – and won their only previous encounter.
Viktorija Golubic to beat Iga Swiatek @ 9/2
Our 2020 friend Swiatek needs little introduction these days. The 20-year-old is now an established Top 10 player, and a genuine contender for the title in every event that she enters. That said, Iga hasn’t been playing her very best tennis recently. It’s to her credit then that more often than not, she’s still been finding ways to win. When you come up against a dangerous, fellow fast-hitting opponent like Golubic though, you might not be able to afford a bad day at the office. My feeling is that the underdog can run Swiatek very close today. Odds of 4/1+ make this a worthwhile proposition. We saw a couple of 3/1 and 5/1 shocks on the women’s tour yesterday. We could see a few more this week, including this one.
