LINDA NOSKOVA got to a WTA 1000 final for us at 50/1 Each Way last October (Beijing). Having produced a very convincing 2-0 win in the 1st round here in Doha on Monday, I like the 20-year-old for another stab at a high-level trophy this week…
Linda is at a career-best ranking of no.12 in the world. She has the serve and weapons to hit through the courts and push opponents around here.
QINWEN ZHENG delayed her comeback from injury at the start of the year, and that’s looking like a smart move, in a sport where all-to-often, players rush back that bit too soon. Our 33/1 Each Way runner-up at the Australian Open 2024, the powerful, classy Chinese star also has the tools to go well at this venue.
Durability for a run of back-to-back matches here after last season’s long layoff is a concern. But all I can say is she played and looked great in her 1st-round victory on Monday (and served 20 aces with her big serve). Also, a bit of momentum and confidence counts for a lot.
The current world no.26 was a Top 5 player before injury slowed her down. If she hits her level and her body doesn’t let her down, Zheng could be one of the early feelgood stories of 2026…
