Tennis Betting Advice - January 2022
Monday 10th January 2022
We have lots to look forward to this week…
Tomorrow, I’ll be sending you my brand-new, hot off the press, Ones to Watch in 2022 Report. This exclusive list contains 10 exciting young players that can help you win big in the tennis markets this season – and beyond. Keep an eye on your inbox. I’ll be sending you this free new report on Tuesday.
Then, coming up at the weekend. We have the first Grand Slam tournament of the year. With the Australian Open starting in Melbourne on Sunday night, UK time.
Starting on Sunday, I’ll be providing a daily email for you. With ALL my analysis and advice for the big one Down Under.
Last week we added to our ante post book by backing 20-year-old Amanda Anisimova for the Australian Open, at a top-price 100/1. Amanda made the perfect start to the new season at the weekend, winning the WTA Melbourne Summer Set 2 event – her first title since 2019. That can only be a good sign. The bookies now have the American youngster at closer to 50/1.
On the weekly ATP & WTA Tours, the men & women got underway last week with the first five tournaments of 2022.
Maxime Cressy and Aliaksandra Sasnovich were the two big standouts on the betting front. Both coming through the pre-tournament Qualifying rounds, and making it all the way to the final as big outsiders in the betting…
Here are the finalists and Outright Winner prices from week one of 2022:
WTA 250 - Melbourne Summer Set 2
WINNER: A.Anisimova (12/1)

And to whet your appetite for the Australian Open next week. Check out these recent women’s Grand Slam prices. It’s wide open…
The new season is here. And looking at those prices, no wonder I’m excited…
Before we get down to Grand Slam business at Melbourne Park next week, there are four more warm-up tournaments taking place this week.
As ever, in the week before a Major. We should tread carefully and avoid any short prices about players who will have more than one eye on keeping fit ready for the Australian Open, which is just a few days away.
I’m most interested in the two women’s events this week, in Adelaide and Sydney. With double-figure Each Way prices the range in which to go hunting…
I’ve ended up kicking myself in the past for not following up on players, one week after the next. Last time out, Jasmine Paolini and Sorana Cirstea were my two underdog choices on the WTA Tour. Seven days later, I want to follow those two again, this time at WTA Adelaide International 2. Odds in the region of 25/1 – 40/1 will do nicely for me. Both women are capable of going deeper in the draw than those prices suggest.
At the WTA Sydney Tennis Classic, two more familiar names catch the eye at the prices…
Elise Mertens tends to start her seasons well. Last year, the Belgian was a 16/1 winner for us in one of these Australian Open warm-up events (Gippsland Trophy). Indeed, no fewer than four of Mertens’ six career WTA singles titles have come in tournaments held in January or February. 20/1+ appeals here.
Petra Kvitova is one of those players that can catch a streak at any time. The two-time Wimbledon champion has done very well in Sydney before: winner 2019, 2015; semi final 2014, 2012.
After a 1st round loss last week, Petra got her season up and running with a come-from-behind victory in round one here on Sunday. Next up is the improving Ons Jabeur. But with the Tunisian little more than just 6/1 to win this tournament, has Jabeur improved enough to overturn a 0-3 head-to-head record v Kvitova? With odds of 12/1 – 16/1 available for the older player, the Czech could prove the value on this occasion.
