Two picks for this week – at 11/1 and 22/1…

I’ve been taking a little time out since the French Open; a step back to take in the first week of the grass court season and reset & get ready for Wimbledon a fortnight from now.

When SW19 comes along two weeks today we’ll be going daily once again with Grand Slam Bets of the Day emails every morning.

This week there are four tournaments on the grass and I have two Outright Winner picks at nice prices. There are plenty of single-figure prices around and the big stories include Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic returning to action at Queen’s.

As ever, I like to look beyond the ‘obvious’ and certainly beyond the shortest prices.

Here are my two weeks for this week…

At Queen’s, or the ATP London/ Fever Tree Championships as it is known this year, I like former champion Sam Querrey as a 22/1 and 18/1 underdog. Querrey won here in 2010, made the semi final in 2012 and the quarter finals last year. The big-serving American then went on to reach the Wimbledon semi finals last summer and this could be the week Big Sam finds some form and his way through a draw once again.

Bigger names are at shorter prices, but Sam can skid the ball through the grass and take out anyone on this surface when he’s serving and volleying well. He has dark horse potential this week.

ATP London (Queen’s) – Fever Tree Championships

Outright Winner:

BET: Sam Querrey @ 22/1 Each Way
BOOKIES: 22/1 (23.00) Skybet, 18/1 (19.00) Bet365, Betfair Sportsbook, Paddy Power

  • Each Way terms: 1/2 odds 1-2 places

Sticking with the UK tournaments, in the top half of the WTA Birmingham draw I like 2015 finalist Karolina Pliskova at 11/1 and 10/1. The tall Czech has done well here before with a Doubles title to her name in Birmingham too, as well as a Singles titles at Nottingham and winner & runner-up Singles trophies at Eastbourne.

Reigning champ Petra Kvitova is in the opposite side of the draw and as short as 9/2 (5.50). I like Pliskova at twice the price.

WTA Birmingham – Nature Valley Classic

Outright Winner:

BET: Karolina Pliskova @ 11/1 Each Way
BOOKIES: 11/1 (12.00) NetBet, 10Bet, 10/1 (11.00) Bet365, William Hill, Boylesports

  • Each Way terms: 1/2 odds 1-2 places

Play starts from 11am so get your Outright Winner bets down before then, as bookies will suspend the markets during matches.

I’ll be back later in the week with your pre-tournament Wimbledon 2018 – Ones to Watch report.

Enjoy the tennis…

Best wishes,
