One thing I always keep an eye out for in tournaments like this is for a round featuring a bunch of closely-matched women’s matches. Giving us the opportunity to play the 2-1 Set Betting scores for a big-price multiple…

My advice here: split a stake four ways across a Trixie (eg. 0.25 points x 4 = 1 pt total stake). Made up of three doubles, and the jackpot treble for the full house:

Angelique Kerber to win 2-1 v Veronika Kudermetova

• Kerber is on the comeback trail, and had a big result in the 2nd round, knocking out our tournament pick Jelena Ostapenko, 2-1. A former finalist here, Angie looks in good shape so far this week. Kerber is the underdog, but Kudermetova has previous for failing to close out sets/ matches when ahead on the scoreboard…

Jasmine Paolini to win 2-1 v Anna Kalinskaya

• The head-to-head is 2-1 to Paolini, and the Italian came out on top by two sets to one in their most recent meeting just the other day - the WTA 1000 Dubai final. They go again in a big 1000-grade event here…

Anastasia Pavyluchenkova to win 2-1 v Beatriz Haddad Maia

• Two players who are no strangers to three-set scraps. Pavlyuchenkova leads the head-to-head, 2-0. Including a 2-1 Set Betting result in their Hong Kong clash last year. Three of Haddad Maia’s last four losses have come via the full three sets…
