Miami Open: 25/1 Pegula into the Final...

Friday 28th March 2025

We mean business this year…

Following on from yesterday’s Notes from the Tour article (read it here), things went just how we wanted them to in Miami last night…

Full respect to teenager Alexandra Eala, who’s breakout run to the WTA Miami Open semi finals - having started the tournament joint-bottom of the betting - has most definitely marked her out as one to watch from now on…

But we got the match result we were looking for on Thursday night. With our 25/1 Ones to Watch pick Jessica Pegula coming through a very tough match, late into the Miami night, with a quality two-sets-to-one-win.

Pegula was one of our day-one selections for Miami.

The Each Way part of our bet means our Miami Open ‘book’ has taken care of itself by Jess reaching the women’s final at half the odds…

With the win-only part of our bet now giving us a very nice 25/1 on the nose for Pegula to beat world no.1 Aryna Sabalenka in this weekend’s final…

The bookies’ match winner prices make it more like just 2/1 that the world no.4 will beat Sabalenka. Both women will be making their first appearance in a Miami Open final.

After some tough runs and near misses last season, 2025 has started well for us…

Madison Keys won very big for us at the Australian Open in January, at a top price of 100/1

Holger Rune was a 20/1 Each Way runner-up in the Indian Wells final earlier this month…

And now, we have 25/1 Jessica Pegula competing in the Miami Open final

We’re only just getting started. The spring and summer schedule is where the tennis season really gets in full flow. The aim here at Ones to Watch remains the same as ever:

In the tournament Outright Winner markets, we go after appealing outsiders at attractive Each Way prices…

And with the ATP & WTA Tours moving onto clay next week, with the run-up to May’s French Open starting to get underway. I’ll be making the case for plenty more exciting youngsters and big-odds underdogs in the weeks and months ahead…

Enjoy the tennis…

Best wishes,

Tom Wilson
