WTA Madrid update – 25/1 Stephens in the semis…
Thursday 9th May 2019
In your Ones to Watch email today:
Sloane’s got her game face on…
Things have gone okay for us so far this week in Madrid.
Our latest Rollover pick won, with Petra Kvitova beating Caroline Garcia 6-3, 6-3 on Wednesday night. The Rollover run is now up to 6 wins in a row, with the £10 starting stake now rolled up to £50.49. We’ll look to have Bet No.7 next week in Rome.
In the WTA Madrid Outright Winner betting, our 25/1 Each Way pick Sloane Stephens is having her best week of the season – reaching a first semi final of 2019.
Stephens is now down to 5/1 for the title. She faces 2018 Madrid runner-up Kiki Bertens in the semis on Friday.
The match prices are not up as I write, but I’m expecting Bertens to go off as the slight favourite, maybe 8/11 (1.73) or 4/5 (1.80).
Sloane is a streaky player and whatever happens she’s gone well for us this week, winning four matches to get within one win of the final and an assured Place payout.
When Sloane has her game face on, she can beat anyone. And she has a 2-0 career head-to-head record over Bertens – although both meetings did go the distance to a deciding set.
We’re in a good position, with a 25/1 shot now down to 5/1.
I’m away for a long weekend break now. I’ll be back on Tuesday, fresh & ready to tackle the ATP & WTA Rome markets, as the build-up to the French Open continues.
Enjoy the tennis…
Best wishes,
Tom Wilson
