My three-set long-shots weren’t too far off yesterday.
Teenager Carlos Alcaraz needed just the two sets to upset Jannik Sinner. Gael Monfils came from a set down to beat Adrian Mannarino, 2-1. And in the evening match, world no.2 Daniil Medvedev did just enough to beat Ilya Ivashka in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4.
On the Outright Winner front, Wednesday was a good day for our Ones to Watch outsiders at the Rolex Paris Masters. Sebastian Korda, Hubert Hurkacz, Cameron Norrie and Taylor Fritz all won without the loss of a set.
Along with our other Each Way runner, Casper Ruud, we have all five men still in contention heading into Thursday’s play…
Quarter-final places are up for grabs today, and that means things could get exciting as we reach the business end of the tournament this weekend. With five players all in the book at odds of 33/1 – 100/1, this is prime territory for us.
One of the pre-tournament favourites, Stefanos Tsitsipas (9/1), went out injured yesterday. Opening up the draw that little bit more for a potential underdog to come through this week…

Sebastian Korda is an impressive young man. The 21-year-old American is up to no.39 in the world this season, and has all the attributes to go much higher next year and beyond. He’ll relish the chance to take on the reigning Paris champion Medvedev today, seeing it as an opportunity to test himself against one of the best in the sport.
At odds of 5/1, I make Seb a great underdog bet today. He has the serve and skills to hold his own on the scoreboard here, and also the grit needed to dig in on the clutch moments. All the expectation is on the Russian favourite today. Korda can spring a surprise.
