Tennis Betting Advice - October 2019
Sunday 27th October 2019
In your Ones to Watch email today:
We were close to a big one last week.
In Basel, our 50/1 One to Watch pick Reilly Opelka made the semi finals. And was just a tiebreak away from a large Each Way place. Opelka missed out in the semis v Alex De Minaur by the closest of scores, 7-6, 6-7, 7-6.
This evening we’re focusing on the ATP Masters 1000 event in Paris. This is a big tournament and the star names are there - Novak Djokovic (7/4), Roger Federer (5/1) and Rafael Nadal (5/1), along with new kid on the block Daniil Medvedev (9/2).
However, coming at the end of the season with the upcoming ATP Finals on the minds of those guys - and with end of term injuries a possible factor, too - there’s recent history of big-price outsiders here…
Last year, Karen Khachanov was a 40/1 winner. In 2017, Jack Sock was another 40/1 surprise champion - with Filip Krajinovic a 300/1 runner-up.
Who could do it this time? The main guy I have my eye on is Matteo Berrettini (40/1 and 33/1)...
The 23-year-old Italian is at a career-high of No.11 in the world. This has been a breakthrough year for Berrettini, who has made three finals, winning two of them. He’s also reached a further five semi finals. Including three in his last five tournaments, most recently in his last two events back-to-back, in Vienna and Shanghai. And a significant run to the final four at the US Open.
Matteo and his big serve can follow that hard-court form through in Paris this week. He’s chasing some points to qualify for the upcoming ATP Finals in London, too…
One to Watch this week:
Each Way terms: 1/2 odds 1-2 places
Play starts 10am.
I’ll be back in the week with more from Paris. And also with a look at the WTA Finals in China, if any players or prices suit.
Enjoy the tennis…
Best wishes,
Tom Wilson
