The case for a 100/1 winner at the Australian Open...
Friday 13th January 2023
The Australian Open starts on Sunday night, and a few exciting teenagers have made it into the 1st round draw…
Including Czech sisters Linda and Brenda Fruhvirtova, age just 17 and 15 respectively. With Brenda set to make her debut in a senior Grand Slam main draw, after coming through three rounds of qualifying matches this week.
Keep an eye on the Kudermetova sisters, too. Veronika, age 25, is a top 10 player – and has made the quarter finals or better in nine of her last 12 tournaments. While her younger sister, 19-year-old Polina, is into her first Grand Slam, after three out of three wins in qualifying.
Brenda Fruhvirtova and Polina Kudermetova were two of the three winning legs from our five-fold midweek match acca on the Australia Open Qualifiers. No 9/1 payout there, but if you join me for the Australian Open this weekend, we'll be going again very soon at big prices...
With the first Grand Slam of 2023 kicking off in Melbourne on Sunday night - and plenty of ammo for our big-odds betting approach at this tournament. Especially in the women's event...
Expect the unexpected in Melbourne...
I've been going over my women's Grand Slam stats. And the numbers paint an interesting and exciting picture...
Here are the key points to consider, as we are about to embark on our latest big-price Outright Winner pursuit Down Under...
Maiden winners:
Since the Australian Open 2017, when Serena Williams won her last Major:
Big odds:
Plenty of prices and potential 'surprise' scenarios to get the juices flowing there...
And if that's not enough, consider also that these three star names - each of them previous Australian Open & multiple Grand Slam winners - won't be competing in Melbourne:
Serena Williams (7-time Aussie Open champ)
Naomi Osaka (2021 and 2019 champ)
Ashleigh Barty (2022 champ)
And in among that recent batch of silverware dished out Down Under: here at Ones to Watch we were on Aussie Open 2020 winner Sofia Kenin at 50/1, and last year's runner-up Danielle Collins at 66/1 Each Way...
And that's just the women's...!
