We’ve got a man on Centre Court this week...

We start the week with blue skies and blazing heat. The Great British Summer is upon us, Wimbledon is just around the corner – and the grass court season is underway...

This is a great time of year for the tennis – the best time of year, in fact.

And I’m pleased to kick off this sunny Monday with some good news from Ones to Watch reader Michael Doggart...

“Tom, I get your regular weekly email which I enjoy very much. I'd just like to thank you for prompting readers to apply for tickets to Queen's in last week's email. I've just had an email this morning to say that I'd won a pair of Centre Court tickets. What a fantastic surprise - and all down to your prompting. Best wishes, Michael”

Nice one, Michael. Queen’s tickets are hard to come by – and not cheap.

Proof indeed there that you have to be ‘in it to win it’...

Every week companies and websites give away great prizes like that. Those Queen’s tickets were given away by The Independent online...

Grass courts deliver big prices...

The Queen’s Club tournament is the biggest of the Wimbledon warm-up events. Andy Murray has won the Queen’s title more times than any other player (five), and goes off as an 11/8 (2.38) favourite to land trophy number six this week.

However we’ll be looking for bigger Outright Winner prices and Each Way opportunities than that – with another four grass court tournaments on the calendar this week.

Queen’s itself has seen some ‘surprise’ finalists in recent years including not-so-well-known names like Kevin Anderson, Sam Querrey and Feliciano Lopez.

This week’s other Men’s tournament in Halle could also prove worth a look for us, along with Women’s events in Birmingham and Mallorca.

Last summer, the month before Wimbledon produced grass court tournament winners at odds of 20/133/1 and 66/1, with runners-up at 33/1 (x 3) and 40/1...

Last week saw the start of the 2017 grass season and once again there were big prices to be found, with none of the pre-tournament favourites taking home the trophies...

Here are last week’s results and prices:

ATP Stuttgart
Winner: L.Pouille (18/1)
Runner-up: F.Lopez (40/1)

ATP s-Hertogenbosch - grass
Winner: G.Muller (9/1)
Runner-up: I.Karlovic (7/1

WTA Nottingham
Winner: D.Vekic (28/1)
Runner-up: J.Konta (11/4

WTA s-Hertogenbosch
Winner: A.Kontaveit (10/1)
Runner-up: N.Vikhlyantseva (25/1)

We’ll be looking to get some Ones to Watch in action for us at nice prices this week and next week, ahead of Wimbledon...

  • I’ll be studying this week’s tournament draws and schedules today, and will email you first thing tomorrow morning (Tuesday) if any players catch my eye

Coming soon – your free Wimbledon report...

Plus, coming very soon – I’ll send you my Wimbledon 2017 Ones to Watch report.

This will list a handful or so players who could well prove to be the next big-price Grand Slam winner – as 100/1 Jelena Ostapenko showed at the French Open, these things really do happen...

I’ll be in touch again soon.

Best wishes,

Tom Wilson
