Stephens wins at 40/1...

A very happy ‘Ones to Watch’ update for us today, thanks to Sloane Stephens’fantastic outsider victory at the US Open...

Stephens was flagged up at 40/1 in your free, pre-tournament US Open 2017 – Ones to Watch report.

The 24-year-old American completed a remarkable injury comeback this year, with her ranking leaping from outside the top 900 in the world...

To No.84 before New York after two semi final runs over the summer...

And now – having won the big one at the US Open – Stephens is up to a high of No.17 in the new WTA rankings published today.

It was a wide open US Open with many star names missing or knocked out early on. Our 40/1 pick Sloane Stephens successfully negotiated her way through the Women’s draw.

We’re always on the lookout for shocks and surprises; players at big prices offering Each Way value. Sloane Stephens delivered on that front.

  • How did you do? I’d love to hear how you got on. Drop me a line here

Ones to Watch proving profitable this year...

Our pre-tournament Ones to Watch lists have been delivering big prices and payouts this season – most notably in the Grand Slams with 28/1 Marin Cilic (Wimbledon runner-up), 40/1 Sloane Stephens (US Open winner) and 100/1Jelena Ostapenko (French Open winner).

  • Ostapenko was one of 10 young players on our pre-season Ones to Watch in 2017 list. Those players remain very much worth paying attention to moving forward. View the report here

More to come...

The next Grand Slam is the Australian Open in January but we still have stacks of weekly ATP and WTA tournaments taking place between now and the end of the year...

I’ll be following those weekly events in your free Ones to Watch email updates. Taking the same approach that helped us land Stephens in New York – looking beyond the favourites and going for Each Way value in the Outright Winner markets.

The WTA tour returns this week with two low-key events in Tokyo and Quebec.

The action steps up again next week with five tournaments across the Men’s and Women’s tours – I’ll be back then in search of more players at attractive prices...

Enjoy the tennis,

Best wishes,

Tom Wilson
