Anett and Tennys too big today...
A quick email for us today with two prices catching my eye on today’s Match Winner schedule...
Vera Lapko v Anett Kontaveit
WTA Lugano – Samsung Open
Match scheduled: 3pm+
Rankings: Lapko #130, Kontaveit #28
Head-to-Head: n/a
Starting with the 3pm+ match at WTA Lugano in Switzerland, and Anett Kontaveit looks a good price to win her opening match.
Two promising young players here – the 22-year-old Kontaveit featured on our Ones to Watch in 2018 list and is the tournament favourite this week.
The 19-year-old Vera Lapko won two matches in qualifying here but also retired injured in Charleston last week. The young Belarussian could be one to follow in the years to come but as of yet she is yet to take any major scalps on the main tour, and her best WTA showings so far have actually come on hard courts.
Considering she’s the favourite for the trophy, odd of around 4/5 (1.80) for Kontaveit to win this one look a bit of value. On her last appearance on clay, she went all the way to the final at WTA Gstaad (also in Switzerland) last year.

Tennys Sandgren v Nicolas Kicker
ATP Houston – US Men’s Clay Court Championship
Match scheduled: 6pm+
Rankings: Sandgren #56, Kicker #87
Head-to-Head: Sandgren 1-0 (2017)
On to the men’s tour now and our 33/1 outsider pick for the ATP Houston title, Tennys Sandgren looks a good price to win his 2nd Round match today...
The American is priced up as the underdog here, despite winning the only previous meeting between these two, on clay in the Czech Republic last season, with Sandgren beating Kicker 2-1 on that occasion.
Sandgren also looked good in his opening match this week, not losing his serve once.
Kicker had his serve broken three times against Donald Young last night, a player who has been struggling for form recently.
The Argentinean is the more established clay-court player all round, hence his favouritism here, but this event in the USA doesn’t really fit the bill for a normal ‘clay court’ tournament and the hard-hitting Sandgren is the value today.
BET: Tennys Sandgren to beat Nicolas Kicker @ 6/5
BOOKIES: 6/5 (2.20) BetVictor, 11/10 (2.10) William Hill, Bet365, Betway
