WTA Bogota – two 14/1 shots and a Rollover…

Monday 8th April 2019

In your Ones to Watch email today:

  • WTA picks…
  • Two 14/1 shots in Bogota…
  • Rollover bet for Tuesday…

Last night we got our men’s Outright Winner picks down. We’re on Ivo Karlovic at 16/1+ for ATP Houston and Aljaz Bedene at 50/1 for ATP Marrakech.

Today we’re looking at this week’s two women’s events, which are also on clay.

The WTA Lugano draw has Swiss home favourite Belinda Bencic at the top of the betting at just 7/4 (2.75). We’ve backed Bencic three times so far this season, and each time at much bigger prices. We got 28/1 at Indian Wells (semi final), 16/1 at Charleston (quarter final) and as big as 120/1 for Wimbledon (open). The Lugano market looks a tough one to pick a value outsider from this week.

Ones to Watch at 14/1…

In Colombia, the WTA Bogota draw looks much more appealing for us.

The three favourites are all in the top half. Jelena Ostapenko is 9/2 (5.50), Amanda Anisimova is 7/1 and Laura Siegemund is 10/1. Reigning champion Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (16/1) is also on that side of the draw-sheet.

With that competitive looking top section, it could pay to look to the weaker bottom half…

Two players appeal to me here. And despite being in the same half, they can’t meet until the semi finals:

The first is 21-year-old Tamara Zidansek. This time last year the Slovenian put a great run together on clay, including a 14-match winning streak that took in back-to-back lower-level ITF titles in April. Zidansek finished 2018 with an impressive won 43 lost 8 record on clay (84%).

With age on her side, the plan for the current World No.67 will be to progress on the main WTA Tour from now on. With little to fear in this week’s Bogota field, this is a good time to back her.

Magda Linette is another player with a strong win-loss rate on the clay. The 27-year-old from Poland has a won 145 lost 86 career record on the orange surface (63%).

Here in Bogota, Linette has made the quarter finals two years running.

The World No.85 also has a tick in my notes as a ‘fighter’ – Magda is good at hanging in and battling, turning one-set deficits into 2-1 wins and keeping going until the end. That’s the right attitude.

Again, this week’s draw looks ripe for a player of Linette’s Top 100 level to make a breakthrough.

Both players can be backed today at a top price 14/1, and 12/1 in general. Play starts in Bogota from 5pm, UK time. Zidansek and Linette are scheduled to play their 1st Round matches on Tuesday.

The Rollover – bet No.2…

Last week we kicked off our new Rollover bet. The aim is to roll a £10 stake over with match winner selections, cashing-out when we get to the £100 mark. I believe that’s an achievable target. We’re not reaching for the stars. And this new feature can add some extra excitement to our weekly tennis coverage.

  • The Rollover advice will always be to bet with bookies that void match bets for uncompleted matches. That way we’ll never lose our stake/ rollover pot due to a match retirement. Find out more about bookies’ rules here

After bet No.1 won last week the Rollover stake stands at £13.33. That goes on our next selection, which plays on Tuesday:

Rollover bet:

  • Tamara Zidansek to beat Irina Khromacheva @ 4/11 (1.36)

As outlined above, we’re backing Zidansek for a good run in Bogota this week. This 1st Round match-up looks as good an opponent as any for our player to start with a solid win. The 23-year-old Khromacheva is ranked No.137 in the world, 70 places lower than Zidansek. The Russian has failed in the opening match in each of her last three tournament attempts.

Zidansek is 4/11 with Bet365, William Hill, Boylesports, BetVictor, Betway, NetBet, 10Bet.
