The Pole ended Roger Federer's SW19 career that year, and reached the semi finals. That remains Hurkacz's best Grand Slam result to date. But from what I've seen this week in Cincinnati, the 26-year-old should surely be able to improve on his current best finish at the US Open - failing as yet to get past the 2nd round in New York...
Hurkacz's best tennis tends to come on fast courts. And in the States, he's done very well outside of the Big Apple. With five of his six career titles to date coming on hard courts - and three of those coming in the USA (Winston-Salem, Delray Beach, and the Miami Open).
I've mentioned before that Hurkacz tends to sit around the 33/1 - 40/1 mark for big tournaments. Perhaps the fact that Hubi is currently residing outside of the Top 10 is the reason why some bookies have him as big as 80/1 and 66/1 for the upcoming US Open which starts on 28th August. With Sporting Index Fixed Odds going a standout 125/1 as I write...
He's 50/1 and 40/1 with a few firms, which is also plenty acceptable for us as an underdog price for the next Major on the calendar. Especially considering the form Hubert is showing right now. Ladbrokes & Coral are as short as 25/1...
My advice - take the big prices for Hurkacz for the US Open if you can get them. With the 125/1, 80/1 & 66/1 being particularly appealing. He could well go off quite a bit shorter...
