One to Watch in Cleveland at 10/1…
Wednesday 23rd August 2023
Good morning. A quick message from me today, with a 10/1 shot who looks in with a good shout of a title run at the WTA Cleveland event in the USA…
World no.22 Ekaterina Alexandrova has already won one tournament this summer. And the 28-year-old Russian, armed with a big 1st serve and heavy ground strokes, could excel here in Ohio.
Alexandrova blasted through her 1st round match in straight sets. And this afternoon she faces 29-year-old Belarusian world no.68 Aliaksandra Sasnovich – an opponent over whom the Russian owns a 3-0 head-to-head record.
Sasnovich’s 2nd serve often proves to be a weakness, and I would expect Ekaterina to attack it at all opportunities. The higher-ranked player is priced as the 1/2 (1.5) favourite to win this match, and reach the quarter finals.
After that, our 10/1 shot could meet the bookies’ Outright favourite Caroline Garcia enroute to the final. The French world no.7 is hard to trust at the best of times – and will surely have an eye on next week’s US Open come the end of this week…
Let’s go with the unfashionable name here, with 10/1 a decent price given the circumstances and scale of this WTA 250 event.
A tut and a slap on the wrists for Bet365, Betfred, Boylesports, Betway, Ladbrokes & Coral today, who are going with reduced Each Way terms of 1/3 odds for reaching the final. The standard and preferred 1/2 odds are available with the firms listed below, as I write…
