Take Jarry on clay at 25/1…
Monday 11th February 2019
In your Ones to Watch email today:
Ones to Watch this week…
Last night we got on our first two picks of the week.
We’re going for Kiki Bertens for the WTA Doha title at 16/1 Each Way. And Tennys Sandgren for ATP New York – at anything from the 16/1 Each Way generally available to the 18/1, 20/1 and even 40/1 that was briefly offered up.
I’ve got another attractive price for an improving player today…
Throughout the season I want to back our Ones to Watch in 2019 players whenever the price looks good value. In ATP Rotterdam this week, three of the five young men on our 2019 list are all in the same half of the draw. Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Karen Khachanov are all single figures in the Outright Winner market, priced from 7/1 – 9/1 each. I’d fancy their chances, and in that order, but only one of that trio at best can reach the final, and the odds just aren’t big quite big enough to tempt me in on one of them over another this time.
ATP Buenos Aires – Nicolas Jarry at 25/1…
Nicolas Jarry is also on our Ones to Watch list and unlike the three guys mentioned above, the 23-year-old Chilean is yet to win a first ATP title. Until he does we’re going to keep getting chances to back Jarry at appealing Each Way prices.
Last week we had him at 18/1 in Cordoba for the first clay court event of the season. Jarry crashed out in the 1st Round, but in hindsight that 2-0 defeat to Juan Ignacio Londero doesn’t seem too bad. That was Londero’s first ever win on the ATP Tour in a main draw. Londero went on to win the trophy, becoming the first player since 2007 to pull off the ‘debut’ ATP match win/ tournament win double (and at odds of 150/1).
The early-season clay swing continues this week with the men staying in Argentina for the ATP Buenos Aires event…
This time last year Jarry got better as each fledgling clay tournament came along, going quarter final – semi final – final in his first three appearances of the season on the red dirt.
Jarry avoids three of the pre-tournament favourites in his side of the draw this week, including Outright favourite Dominic Thiem who is just 6/4 (2.50), along with the veteran David Ferrer (10/1 at best) and the highest-ranked Argentinean in the draw Diego Schwartzman (9/1).
With odds of 25/1 available across the board we’re getting a bigger price than last week for Jarry. This is a player I’m backing to win his first trophy this season, and it would be no surprise at all if he was to do it at a South American clay event just like this one.
Today’s Ones to Watch Outright Winner pick is:
ATP Buenos Aires – Argentina Open
BET: Nicolas Jarry @ 25/1 Each Way
BOOKIES: 25/1 (26.00) Bet365, Ladbrokes, Coral, William Hill, Boylesports, NetBet, 10Bet

Enjoy the tennis…
