Two quarter finals for us this evening…

Friday 7th February 2020

In your Ones to Watch email today:

  • Play starts 6.30pm...
  • 40/1 to 8/1...
  • Five tournaments next week...

Two chances…

As I said during the Australian Open – and many times before that, too – our Ones to Watch picks are all about getting chances.

Getting players into the business end of tournaments, with price on our side.

This week we had a total of three player picks. We’ve got two selections still standing and through to the quarter finals today.

40/1 to 8/1…

At ATP Montpellier in France, we have Pierre-Hugues Herbert. After reaching the final here last year as a 25/1 shot, the Frenchman is playing well on the indoor courts in his homeland once again.

Herbert is the underdog against David Goffin this evening (7.30pm, UK time). But he pushed the Belgian to five sets at the Aussie Open last month, and this match should be very competitive.

Backed at 40/1 and 33/1 Each Way in the Outright Winner market on Sunday night, the bookies now have Herbert as a general 8/1 shot.

At ATP Cordoba in Argentina, our move to back Corentin Moutet before his match against one of the tournament favourites on Wednesday proved a good one.

The French 20-year-old came through a long, rollercoaster match against Guido Pella. Moutet eventually prevailed 6-7, 7-5, 6-3 – despite about 99% of the crowd very much cheering for his Argentinean opponent.

In the Match Winner betting, Moutet is a 1/2 (1.50) favourite to beat Andrej Martin in the quarter finals this evening (6.30pm). Moutet has won their last two meetings, one on hard courts in January, and the other on clay last season.

Paddy Power & Betfair Sportsbook’s 40/1 on Moutet disappeared pretty fast on Wednesday. I’m assuming you are more likely to have got the 20/1 that was more widely available. As with Herbert, the bookies have now cut our man down to around 8/1 for the trophy.

In both cases, we’ve got price on our side and the chance to reach the semi finals.

That’s a good position to be in.

Five tournaments next week...

I’ll be back before the start of next week’s five tournaments. In your ‘Sunday Night Club’ email we’ll be previewing those events and looking to snap up a couple of early picks at attractive odds.

Enjoy the tennis…

Best wishes,
