Australian Open - Bets of the Day

In your Ones to Watch email today:

  • Day 13…
  • Women’s Final, 8.30am…
  • Naomi Osaka v Petra Kvitova…

Clash of the titans…

Novak Djokovic battered Lucas Pouille this morning. The Frenchman didn’t get anywhere near a tiebreak, let alone winning a set.

We’ve seen two very one-sided Men’s Semi Finals. Now we’re in for a potential classic in Sunday’s Final – Novak Djokovic v Rafael Nadal

It’s the World No.1 v the World No.2. Djokovic started the tournament at the 6/5 (2.20) favourite, with Nadal 9/1 (10.00).

This final line-up means that the last nine Men’s Grand Slam trophies will have gone to Djokovic, Nadal or Roger Federer.

We’re set for an exciting Women’s Final on Saturday, too…

Naomi Osaka v Petra Kvitova is a straight shootout to become the new World No.1. Both women have won Grand Slam titles before. Both serve big, and possess electrifying power. Again – this could be a classic.

Osaka was a top price 14/1 (15.00) on day one of the tournament. Kvitova was 18/1 (19.00). Once again the Women’s event has thrown up the bigger odds.

If Kvitova wins, she will be the ninth different winner from the last nine Women’s Grand Slam tournaments.

Picks for the Finals…

In yesterday’s email we got our bets down early for the finals. I’ve nailed my colours to the mast, backing the two players yet to lose a set in this tournament. Nadal is my match pick for Sunday’s Men’s Final, and Kvitova to beat Osaka is my Women’s pick for Saturday.

The women will be on court from around 8.30am. Same for the men 24 hours later.

In recent Grand Slams the Aces and Double Faults stats have pointed us to a few good bets. The additional match markets don’t have anything that I’m keen on today. I’ll report back on Saturday night with a look at the Djokovic v Nadal markets.

P.S
I’m also waiting for the draws and early Outright Winner prices for next week’s two WTA tournaments, in Thailand and Russia. On Sunday or Monday I’ll be naming next week’s Ones to Watch.

Enjoy the tennis…

Best wishes,
