Australian Open: Women’s Final – 50/1 to play with…
Friday 31st January 2020
In your Ones to Watch email today:
Good afternoon and welcome to day 13 of our Australian Open coverage.
Thiem makes the final…
We had another semi final go our way this morning, with Dominic Thiem playing the big moments well to get past an in-form Alexander Zverev, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6, 7-6.
Our 22/1 Each Way pick moves into Sunday’s men’s final, where he’ll face the big favourite and reigning champ, Novak Djokovic. We’ll look at that match in tomorrow’s email.
Kenin v Muguruza…
In the women’s final (Saturday 8.30am), we’ve got our 50/1 Each Way pick Sofia Kenin to cheer on.
We already have a half-the-odds Each Way place payout assured. With the 50/1 ‘Win’ part of our bet riding on the American outsider beating Garbine Muguruza in the final.
The Spaniard is an interesting opponent here. Muguruza is a two-time Grand Slam trophy winner – yet a poor couple of seasons means she’s actually an unseeded player at this tournament. On day one, Muguruza was 40/1 in the Outright Winner market.
This will be Kenin’s debut in a Major final. So far, the 21-year-old has held her nerve well.
If you want to balance the books…
The bookies make Muguruza the Match Winner favourite at 4/7 (1.57).
If you want to ‘balance the books’ for your overall Australian Open bets & stakes (depending on who you backed and what Outright/ Match picks you followed, and how much you staked), then a hefty bet on Muguruza here would ensure a profitable tournament:
It’s up to you. But the opportunity for the win-win final is there.
And remember, your Ones to Watch service isn’t just about this tournament…
All year long, every week, we’ll be hunting for the Each Way, big-odds opportunities like Kenin at 50/1 here.
On that note…
We’ll be back in business with our next Outright Winner picks on Sunday night, for the three men’s ATP tournaments taking place next week.
Before that, I’ll be back tomorrow with your day 14 email, looking at the men’s final.
