Delray Beach final tonight – Hurkacz v Korda…
Sebastian Korda has reached his first ATP Tour final…
The 20-year-old American features in our new Ones to Watch in 2021 report.
A final in week one of the season is great going for the youngster. He looks confident and composed, so expect him to go all out for the trophy tonight.
Korda gave us a 2-1 Set Betting winner earlier in the week, taking out big-serving John Isner 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, to land standout odds of 19/5 (4.8).
In the pre-tournament Outright Winner market for Delray Beach, Korda was a top-price 28/1.
In this evening’s championship match (8pm, UK time), Seb takes on a name from last season’s Ones to Watch in 2020 report, Hubert Hurkacz. The 6’5” Pole is another big server for Korda to deal with. So far, Seb’s return game has been excellent.
Hurkacz went off as 4/1 favourite in the event. He’s looking for a second career title, having won ATP Winston-Salem on hard courts here in the States in 2019.
That Winston-Salem triumph was a three-set affair. And in each of the last two years, the Delray Beach final has been decided in a final set, too.
The Match Winner market has Hurkacz as the slight favourite at around 5/6 (1.83). With Korda not far behind at Evens (2.0).
The bookies make it 5/4 (2.25) to go to three sets. In the Set Betting options, Hurkacz to win in three is 10/3 (4.33), with Korda around the same price for the 2-1 win.
It’s also pleasing to see a few firms pricing up markets for Aces and Double Faults. This is an area previously reserved for the latter stages of Grand Slams. As I write, Bet365, Paddy Power & Betfair Sportsbook, and Marathonbet have all got serving markets on offer for tonight’s final…
Here at Delray Beach 2021, Hurkacz is averaging 4.7 aces per match, compared to 5.5 for Korda.
In the double faults category, the Polish player has served just 2 across his three matches (1st round Bye). Korda has served 11 across his four matches, averaging 2.75 per match.
You can get around Evens (2.0) for Korda to serve the Most Double Faults this evening.
I want to be on the positive side of supporting the in-form youngster though, and odds of 11/5 (3.2) and 6/4 (2.5) appeal for the Most Aces. Hurkacz’s movement and returning is not as sharp as Seb’s.
I’m backing the newcomer to win, and for the Most Aces.
Ones to Watch:
ATP Delray Beach
Play starts at 8pm, UK time. You can watch the final live on TennisTV, as well on bookie websites such as Bet365 and Skybet.
I’ll be back tomorrow with a week one round-up for you.
Enjoy the tennis…
