One to Watch in Montpellier at 22/1...
Tuesday 28th January 2025
After Grand Slam glory in Melbourne last week… today we’re off to Montpellier for a more modest ATP 250 event…
I said we’d be straight back to business after our big Australian Open winner, Madison Keys.
This week I want us to back a young Chinese player on the up…
Yunchaokete Bu caught my eye towards the end of last season. Reaching back-to-back Semi Finals in China in September & October…
And then a Quarter Final in November on indoor hard courts in France. Where his ATP Metz run showcased Bu’s steely nerve, often holding his service games with either the minimum of fuss - or saving break-points with some quality, clutch play.
Montpellier this week represents another indoor hard-court opportunity in France…
This 23-year-old has talent, for sure. He’s been on the rise through the rankings, in a low-key way, for a couple of years now…
Bu’s rankings rise - official ATP website:

As I’ve mentioned before, a 250-level event like this week’s in Montpellier can be a good hunting ground for a Top 100 player looking for their first title on the full ATP Tour…
Yunchaokete Bu has already won through his 1st round match, running out a controlled 2-0 winner on Monday. He held his serve throughout.
Today’s ATP Montpellier outright market will go down when Tuesday’s match schedule gets underway at 11.30am, UK time…
But, Bu won’t be playing today - so if you miss the 22/1, 20/1 or 18/1 that’s available as I write, look to get those Each Way prices or similar when the bookies’ prices are reinstated/ updated come this evening or first thing Wednesday morning.
