Tennis Betting Advice - July 2018
This week’s picks – at 33/1 and 40/1…
Sunday 29th July 2018
In your Ones to Watch email today:
Last week I spoke confidently about two players at prices shorter than we usually go for – 7/2 Daria Kasatkina and then 5/1 Laura Siegemund. That Moscow final ended up being contested by two 17-year-olds, with 100/1 Olga Danilovic beating 50/1 Anastasia Potapova.
This week we’re going back to the big ones. Here are my Ones to Watch picks for this week. We may well add one or two more over the days ahead. There are five tournaments taking place in total.
40/1 pick in Kitzbuhel…
Event: ATP Kitzbuhel, Austria
Surface: Clay
The tours in general are heading to the North American hard courts for the build up to next month’s US Open. However we have a European clay court event on the schedule in Austria and Nicolas Jarry is a young clay-courter showing some decent form and potential this year.
So far this season he’s reached two ATP semi finals and a final on clay. Last week he beat French Open runner-up Dominic Thiem 2-0 on clay in Hamburg.
The bottom half of the Kitzbuhel draw throws the 22-year-old Chilean in with a couple of veterans, notably Fernando Verdasco (10/1) and multiple-time Kitzbuhel finalist Philipp Kohlschreiber (9/1). I much prefer the big prices for the improving youngster, who is also strong on serve and showing a handy knack of winning tiebreakers.

33/1 shot in San Jose…
Event: WTA San Jose, USA
Surface: Hard
Some big names dominate the top of the Outright Winner list in San Jose this week, but picking one to come through at a short price is no easy feat and not a task we need to take on. In the top half, Garbine Muguruza (13/2) and Victoria Azarenka (10/1) could meet in the 2nd Round. While in the bottom half, 3/1 favourite Serena Williams has the blockbuster match of the 1st Round against Jo Konta (14/1).
Looking elsewhere for a price and Danielle Rose Collins is the name that jumps straight out for me. As we noted when backing her earlier in the season, the 24-year-old American is having a breakthrough season. She’s had a pretty miserable time of it on the grass and clay this summer, but back here in the States on her best surface, Collins can pick back off where she left off…
Collins’ most recent hard court tournament form on the full WTA Tour reads: quarter final, semi final, 4th Round. And before that on the lower-tier circuit: quarter final, final (won).
Collins showed a flair for giant killing when taking out US Open runner-up Madison Keys at Indian Wells in March, followed by impressive underdog victories over Coco Vandeweghe and Venus Williams en route to the Miami Masters semi final.
WTA San Jose – Silicon Valley Classic

BET: Danielle Rose Collins @ 33/1 Each Way
BOOKIES: 33/1 (34.00) Boylesports, NetBet, 10Bet, 28/1 (29.00) Ladbrokes, Coral, William Hill
