I’m on my summer holidays at the moment, but I’m keeping my eye in with the tennis and have three picks for events taking place in the USA this week.

In the men’s, I like one player from each side of the ATP Washington draw…
David Goffin is returning to form after a period of injury problems. He’s showed some encouraging signs so far this summer with impressive performances at Wimbledon (quarter finals) and Halle (final – runner-up). He made the Washington quarter finals last year. Odds of 20/1 mark him out as One to Watch this week.
In the bottom half of the draw, 2014 winner Milos Raonic (11/1) is another player looking to get back to regular business after his latest injury layoff. The big-serving Canadian has made one semi final and two quarter finals from five outdoor hard court tournament appearances so far this season.
In the women’s, 2018 WTA San Jose semi-finalist Elise Mertens looks well-drawn at 12/1 to go one better on this year’s visit. Mertens won the Premier event at Doha in February and gets another shot at a Premier-grade hard court title this week. Like fellow Belgian, David Goffin, Mertens has shown signs of hitting form this summer and this draw looks promising for her.
