A 4/1 shot for the Progress Tour final…
It’s not been a classic week of action for us, but things will pick up significantly in a fortnight from now when the WTA Tour returns…
That will mean the resumption of our ‘Sunday Night Club’ from August 2nd, where we look to snap up the best Each Way prices in the tournament Outright Winner markets, before play starts on a Monday morning.
Back to this week, and the match between Petra Kvitova and Elina Svitolina really was hampered by rain delays…
So much so, in fact, that that Bett1 Aces women’s final had to be moved back by two days, by which point the Bett1 exhibition had moved on to a different Berlin venue…
That meant our pick on grass-court specialist Kvitova lost some of its edge, as the new location was an indoor hard-court. Svitolina eventually won the match, by two sets on one.
Boulter v Burrage…
The 2-1 women’s score-line is one we’ve had a bit of joy with so far this summer. With service games often hard to hold, a snaking scoreboard is nothing new in the women’s game, and that can often pan out as a three-set tussle…
That could be the case at lunchtime today for the Progress Tour Women’s Championships finals between Katie Boulter and Jodie-Anna Burrage.
These two have been the clear best players in an injured-ravaged Progress Tour field this week. In the group stage match, favourite Boulter beat Burrage, 6-3, 7-6.
Katie is yet to drop a set at the National Tennis Centre this week, but that dominance is not quite as convincing as it might seem…
Boulter’s last two wins have required a tiebreak (7-6) to take the second set. And in Friday’s semi final, her opponent Freya Christie served for the set at 5-4 at one stage.
With this being a final, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it get edgy at some point. Boulter is 8/13 (1.62) to win. For me, the value is in the Boulter 2-1 Set Betting score at around 4/1 (5.0).
