Newport quarter finals - and a short summer break...

Thursday 15th July 2021

In Ones to Watch today:

  • ATP Newport – quarter finals…
  • A short summer break…
  • The North American swing…

We got on two players for the Hall of Fame Championship in Newport yesterday. Both had good wins on Wednesday evening, and move through to the quarter finals…

ATP Newport – quarter finals…

Kevin Anderson (7/1) won 2-0 yesterday, and is now down to 4/1 for the title. The bookies have big Kev priced as the favourite to beat Jack Sock this evening (7pm UK time).

Jenson Brooksby continues his good season, moving into a debut ATP quarter final after a 2-1 victory last night. In the Outright Winner market, the 20-year-old was a top price 22/1 and 20/1 when we backed him. That price has now been chopped to 8/1 and shorter. Jenson is also priced as a favourite to reach the semi finals – he plays Peter Gojowczyk on Friday.

We’ve got a mixture of youth and experience there. Brooksby is on the rise, and one to watch in the seasons to come. Anderson is 35 years old, and looking to add some more titles to his name, having come back from injury.

A short summer break…

With the French Open and Wimbledon behind us, and the US Open to come at the end of August, now is good time for me to sneak in a short summer break.

I’ll be back with your next Ones to Watch emails in the week commencing 26th July. The North American hard-court swing begins that week, with a series of tournaments in preparation for the US Open in New York.

Until then, enjoy the sunshine. And as always, enjoy the tennis…

Best wishes,

Tom Wilson
