Wimbledon Day 3: Match Winner picks at 7/1...

Wednesday 5th July 2023

Welcome to your Wimbledon 2023 Daily Service - Day 3…

Good morning. If it wasn’t for the roofs on Centre Court and Court 1, Tuesday would’ve seen no completed matches at all…

A day of heavy rain means we go into Wednesday with several players still yet to get on court to even start their 1st round match. With some left waiting since Monday.

The good news is that the forecast is much better for the next few days…

And the upshot is that there are over 80 matches on Day 3. With today’s schedule comprising a mixture of 1st & 2nd round encounters, included some uncompleted matches from the opening couple of days.

Before we get onto the match betting, let’s check up on our tournament picks…

Outright Winner market - Each Way terms: 1/2 odds 1-2 places

Men:

  • Andy Murray @ 55/1 - got to play yesterday, posting a comprehensive 3-0 win in his 1st round match under the roof on Centre Court. A good start for Andy, meaning his playing schedule won’t be as day-to-day cramped as some of the players with delayed matches. Best price now: 66/1 Unibet & BetUK. 40/1 & 33/1 in general

  • Taylor Fritz @ 50/1 - still waiting to finish his 1st round tie from Monday. Due out second on Court 2 today. Leads Yannick Hanfmann 3-2 on serve in the deciding set. Best price now: 100/1 Skybet, Boylesports, 90/1 Paddy Power & Betfair Sportsbook

Women:

  • Karolina Muchova @ 80/1 or 66/1 - due to play her delayed 1st round match this afternoon/ evening, scheduled for the fourth match out on Court 12. Best price now: 25/1 Bet365, Unibet, Boylesports, Ladbrokes & Coral, Sporting Index Fixed Odds, 10Bet

  • Petra Kvitova @ 25/1 - also due to play her delayed 1st round match today, fourth in the order of play on Court 3. Best price now: 16/1 Bet365. 12/1 general

  • Anastasia Potapova @ 200/1 - 100/1 - resumes in the 1st round today, leading against teenager Celine Naef with the score at 6-3, 3-3. Due out second on Court 16. Best price now: 125/1 Unibet & BetUK, 100/1 SpreadEx Sports. 80/1 general

Women’s 4th Quarter Winner market:

  • Anastasia Potapova @ 33/1 - 25/1 - not all bookies have this market as I write this morning, but Potapova to win the 4th Quarter (eg. reach the semi finals) is now 16/1 BetVictor, 14/1 Skybet, William Hill, Ladbrokes & Coral, SpreadEx Sports

As discussed on Day 1, we can bide our time a day or two before looking to make our next moves in the Outright markets. Especially so with many players yet to even get out on court at all.

Back to those 80-odds matches on the Day 3 schedule now - and there are several betting opportunities for us…

Men’s matches today:

Three underdogs who all look to have the current edge for various reasons - be it on serve, grass-court pedigree, or current form. Priced at 6/5 (2.2) each:

Laslo Djere to beat Maxime Cressy - the former is underrated beyond clay, the latter is hitting more Double Faults than Aces. Confidence is low for Cressy, who was expected to deliver on grass after a highly promising turf season in 2022. On all surfaces in 2023, the American is currently on a run of 12 defeats from 13 matches…

Alexei Popyrin to beat Dominic Stricker - could well be a close match, but the higher-ranked Popyrin has more experience at this level, and his big serve might just make the difference in key moments…

Arthur Fils to beat Alejandro Davidovich Fokina - the upside has to be with the 19-year-old here. Teenager Fils has won a first ATP title this season, and is an exciting young player on the up. Davidovich Fokina has never been beyond the 2nd round on the grass courts of Wimbledon…

Women’s matches today:

While we’re going for three underdog singles in the men’s today. I like these seven favourites to all get the win in the women’s. With the seven-fold accumulator paying 7/1 (8.0):

Beatriz Haddad Maia to beat Yulia Putintseva
Jelena Ostapenko to beat Greet Minnen
Mirra Andreeva to beat Xiyu Wang
Madison Keys to beat Sonay Kartel
Victoria Azarenka to beat Nadia Podoroska
Katerina Siniakova to beat Lesia Tsurenko
Sofia Kenin to beat Xinyu Wang

  • Note: the number one bookie for Match Winner betting right now is Skybet, who offer the most preferable rules for this market: voiding bets if your player retires from the match injured, but also still paying out on the player that wins. Read more on Skybet’s tennis Match Betting rules here. Bet365 also offer this ruling, paying out in bet credits instead of cash in the event of a win via retirement - read more at Bet365 here
