Hedge bet – for a win-win final in Mallorca today…

Sunday 23rd June 2019

In your Ones to Watch email today:

  • WTA Mallorca – Final…
  • 9/1 Bencic the favourite…
  • Hedge bet – Kenin @ 6/4…

We had a good result on Saturday afternoon with Belinda Bencic beating reigning Wimbledon champ Angelique Kerber in the WTA Mallorca semi finals…

That win means we go into this afternoon’s Mallorca final with an Each Way place payout assured at 1/2 the odds for our Outright Winner pick on Bencic at 9/1 or 8/1.

Those place returns will cover our full stakes for the week so far (inc. Dan Evans at 40/1 Each Way at Queen’s – lost). And  the win part will give us a nice 9/1 or 8/1 profit on Bencic should she lift the trophy today.

Bencic is the favourite. Final opponent Sofia ‘Sonya’ Kenin is a tough cookie though, and a young player that I like.

We’ve followed the 20-year-old American a few times already this season – (unsuccessfully) backing Kenin at odds of 100/1 at both WTA Dubai and Miami, 12/1 in Strasbourg and also as a match underdog v Simona Halep at the Australian Open.

So far we haven’t found the right day to back Sonya. She won Hobart at 18/1 and made the Acapulco final at 16/1. And went on to beat Serena Williams at the French Open for a 7/2 (4.50) match upset. This will be Kenin’s first grass court final.

The advice today is to stake 2 points on to Kenin to beat Bencic at 6/4 (2.50). That shifts 3 pts profit onto the ‘Kenin Win – Bencic Each Way runner-up’ outcome. While still leaving us with the greater payout on Bencic to take the trophy.

Hedge bet:

HEDGE BET – only place this bet if you backed Bencic as previously advised

Match Winner:

STAKE: 2 pts
BET: Sofia Kenin to beat Belinda Bencic @ 6/4

The match is scheduled for 3.30pm, live on BT Sport.

Next week’s tournaments in Antalya and Eastbourne start today but the only real action is in the women’s side of the Eastbourne event. Things get properly going tomorrow and we’ll have our first look at the Outright Winner opportunities in time for the start of play on Monday morning.

Enjoy the tennis…

Best wishes,
