Tennis Betting Advice - June 2022
30/1 for a 5-star performance today...
Wednesday 22nd June 2022
Good morning. Everything’s better when the sun shines, and I’m really enjoying this month’s grass-court tennis…
The Wimbledon build-up has got me nicely excited for the big one next week. That enthusiasm is reflected in my SW19 prep; I feel like I’m delving my head and thoughts into the grass form more than ever this week. I’ll have some findings to report back for you tomorrow.
For today, the four final pre-Wimbledon tournaments continue apace: WTA & ATP Eastbourne, WTA Bad Homburg, and ATP Mallorca. Not to mention the absolute mountain of men’s and women’s matches taking place over at Roehampton in the Wimbledon Qualifiers. Across those events, there are over 90 singles matches taking place today (!).
American duo in Eastbourne…
We’ve got two men in the Outright Winner book this week, and both are in action today. After winning their 1st round matches in Eastbourne, Maxime Cressy (backed at 40/1 & 33/1 Each Way) and Tommy Paul (28/1 & 25/1) are now trading at around 14/1 and 18/1 respectively.
Our American pair are both priced as the match underdogs this afternoon:
Cressy will be looking to out-serve Britain’s Dan Evans. Our man is 11/8 (2.38) in general for the upset. The head-to-head is 2-1 to Evans, but Cressy won their most recent meeting this season. This will be their first encounter on grass.
Paul takes on one of the big names in the Eastbourne field, world no.13 Jannik Sinner. As alluded to in yesterday’s email, I’m a big fan of the 20-year-old Italian – but he’s yet to convince on grass. That could all change in the weeks and years to come, of course. But as of today, Sinner is only won 3 lost 6 on grass for his pro career, and today’s match is his first grass-court outing of the year. The head-to-head is 1-0 to the favourite, but that was on clay – and our man Tommy managed to win a set in that clash. As with Cressy, Paul is around 11/8 (2.38) for the upset here. Bet365 are a top price of 6/4 (2.5).
I wouldn’t put you off backing our boys in the Match Winner markets today. As I say, there’s a stack of matches on the Wednesday schedule. And I’m directing my efforts to a handful of players elsewhere…
Match Winner 5-fold at 30/1…
These five picks are all priced as either the straight-up match underdog, or in a 50-50 market. In other words, this is where I think the value is this morning…
Play starts from 11am and runs throughout the day, so I’ll be brief here and just present these in a list format for you (rather than my usual more in-depth write-up):
ATP Eastbourne
Cameron Norrie to beat Brandon Nakashima (back the Brit, who reached a grass-court final last summer)
ATP Mallorca
Benjamin Bonzi to beat Denis Shapovalov (Denis has lost 5 matches in a row)
Marcos Giron to beat Mackenzie McDonald (all-American clash; Giron had the more impressive win in the last round)
WTA Eastbourne
Magda Linette to beat Lesia Tsurenko (Linette is often underrated; she can dig in and grind this one out)
Anhelina Kalinina to beat Yulia Putintseva (two careers going in opposite directions; Kalinina is on the up, and will be hard to beat here)
That five-fold comes in at around 30/1, and that’s how I’m playing it today. As ever, as is your own preference, you may wish to follow these match picks as singles and/ or multiple combinations.
