Strasbourg update – 40/1 Kostyuk in the quarters…
Our weekly picks have been giving us a good run recently.
After 20/1 Daniil Medvedev (final – runner-up), 25/1 Sloane Stephens (semi final) and 90/1 Diego Schwartzman (semi final), we’ve got another One to Watch doing well in France this week…
Teenager Marta Kostyuk is yet to drop a set in Strasbourg. The 16-year-old is into the quarter finals today, where she’ll play World No.24, Caroline Garcia.
Kostyuk is a 7/4 (2.75) match underdog today. The higher-ranked Garcia is the 4/9 (1.44) match favourite. They played each other just over a year ago in Stuttgart – also on clay – and Marta pushed the Frenchwoman all the way in a narrow final set defeat, 7-5. With more experience and progression behind her, I’m expecting the young Ukrainian to give a good account of herself in today’s encounter, too.
Once again, we have excellent value on our side in the Outright Winner market. At the start of the week we took best prices of 40/1 and 33/1 Each Way for Kostyuk. Going into quarter finals day, she’s down to 8/1 in general.
Caroline Garcia v Marta Kostyuk is on BT Sport from 1pm today.
French Open draw tonight…
After Strasbourg, we will of course be staying in France for the French Open. The second Grand Slam of the year starts on Sunday at Roland Garros…
The draw ceremony takes place in Paris tonight. I’ll be kicking off your exclusive DAILY French Open Ones to Watch emails from 8am Sunday. Including our first Outright Winner picks and match bets.
And I may well be in touch before then with more on this week’s tournaments as the weekend approaches.
We have lots to look forward to right now…
Enjoy the tennis,
Best wishes,
Tom Wilson
