Follow Dmitry’s winning streak…

In your Ones to Watch email today:
The old pro has still got it…
Jurgen Melzer capped off a good ‘working week’ for us yesterday.
The 39-year-old Austrian finally got on court to face Lenny Hampel. And the veteran showed he’s still got plenty of tennis fight in him, defeating his 23-year-old opponent 6-1, 6-7, 6-4, to land odds of 7/2 (4.50) for the 2-1 Set Betting score.
Melzer has now won three out of three matches in the group stage during this opening week of play at the Generali Austria Pro Series.
We should give a nod to Hampel’s efforts in yesterday’s match, too…
The younger Austrian saved a match point in the second set, and dug in to take the match to a decider. As I always say with ‘match point moments,’ sometimes they work out for us, sometimes they don’t. On this occasion it panned out well.
There are no matches that catch my eye in Austria today, and the women’s Exo-Tennis event in Atlanta came to a conclusion last night. See below for my men’s pick in the States today.
A new event starts in Germany next week, and is set to run throughout June. On Friday, Jamie Murray announced a summer exhibition event in England, and the LTA have confirmed a July schedule of tournaments, too.
There are more competitions to talk about, too, in the weeks ahead, featuring the likes of Novak Djokovic, Nick Kyrgios, Sofia Kenin and Bianca Andreescu.
Follow Dmitry’s winning streak…
There’s one player for us to follow today and that’s Dmitry Popko, taking on Bjorn Fratengelo in the GST Tours Matchplay 120 event.
The 23-year-old Kazakhstan representative has put together an impressive run of form in May. At this week’s Matchplay 120, Popko has won three out of three, including a 6-1, 6-3 victory over today’s 26-year-old American opponent, Fratangelo.
Overall, Popko’s winning run stands at 14 matches in a row. That’s quite some streak, and he’s my pick to carry that form through today.
