Tennis Betting Advice - November 2020

One from the top at 28/1...

Wednesday 4th November 2020

In your Ones to Watch email today:

  • Ones to Watch this week…
  • ATP Paris Masters…
  • Stan for a run at 28/1...

The seeds have started to fall at the Paris Masters. On Tuesday, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Matteo Berrettini both tumbled out of the bottom half of the draw. And David Goffin was sent packing in the top half.

Going into round two on Wednesday, we’ve got two Ones to Watch picks left running for us, both on the bottom side of the draw-sheet…

Kevin Anderson (80/1) will be looking to upset the odds and the rankings and beat Daniil Medvedev for the second week running.

Alex De Minaur (33/1) is priced as the favourite to beat last week’s ATP Vienna runner-up, Lorenzo Sonego.

The ideal situation there would be that both Anderson and De Minaur get through to the 3rd round, where they would then play each other, providing us with a quarter-finalist in this weaker half of the Paris Masters draw. That’s the plan, anyway. It may well pan out differently, but we have good outsiders on our side at good prices.

One from the top at 28/1…

In the top half of the field, where no.1 seed and tournament favourite Rafael Nadal resides, we’re adding one more name to our Outright Winner book today…

Stan Wawrinka started the event at 33/1, and after an impressive 2-0 win against Dan Evans in the opening round, Stan’s price hasn’t flickered too much, with 28/1 still available.

If the Swiss big hitter performs well again on Wednesday and takes out the young American, Tommy Paul, then we can expect to see more of a reaction in the market. And even more so if any of the favourites in this side of the draw slip up… with the likes of 8/5 (2.6) Nadal, 11/2 (6.5) Andrey Rublev, and 7/1 (8.0) Alexander Zverev in here at short prices.

The 35-year-old, three-time Grand Slam champion has said he thinks he has one last big push in him. A former semi-finalist here, Wawrinka has the power to hit through these courts where others might struggle. And with the conditions reportedly a little slower than usual at this indoor hard-court event, Stan can take advantage of having the time to set himself before unleashing on the ball.

As outlined in my two previous Paris Masters emails this week, there are strong credentials for going after players at the larger end of the betting at this event.

Adding Wawrinka at 28/1 gives us a lively interest in the top half of the field, to go along with 80/1 Anderson and 33/1 De Minaur in the opposite side of the draw.
