ATP Finals: 14/1 Sascha loves this tournament...
Wednesday 12th November 2025
Whenever Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz line up on opposite sides of a tournament draw, it’s always easy to make the case for the world’s Top 2 to end up facing each other in the final…
One quick look at the current Outright Winner betting for this week’s big-money ATP Finals in Turin paints a clear picture. No.1 Sinner is odds-on to win at home here in Italy, at 8/13 (1.62). No.2 Alcaraz is 6/4 (2.5).
It’s still possible - although admittedly unlikely - that these two could meet in the semi finals and not the final this week… or not at all. Depending on how the two Groups pan out in the concluding round-robin matches over the next couple of days.
And even if the main men do top their respective groups, as the bookmakers and general sporting press would expect. There’s still a case for an outsider from the rest of the field to do something here…
The player I’m most keen on as the underdog pick here, and by some margin, is world no.3, ALEXANDER ZVEREV. Available this morning at 14/1 at best and 12/1 in general. With play starting from 1pm. And Sascha himself on court in the evening match v Sinner, at 7.30pm.
Zverev has a great record at this tournament. The German has won it twice before, which is some achievement considering the 28-year-old has competed in an era that has featured the likes of Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal.
Alexander Zverev career ATP Finals record:

What’s more, it’s not a given that the favourites will be contesting the trophy match on Sunday - no matter how much the home crowd, tournament organisers, or general viewing public would like to see the latest installment of Sinner-Alcaraz on a big stage…
In fact, just three of the last 10 season-ending ATP Finals have seen the championship match played out by the two biggest names on paper…
For example, last year, Taylor Fritz came runner-up at 16/1. And in 2022, Casper Ruud reached the final as a 14/1 shot. In this small eight-man field (in comparison, 128 players line up in a Grand Slam draw on day one), those odds represent a pretty big upset.
Sascha Zverev is going in the book for us today at double figures. The Outright market will go offline with most firms at 1pm when play starts.
Depending on how he fares against star-name Sinner tonight, Zverev’s 14/1 or 12/1 price will either drop or drift (or stay the same!). Defeat this evening will still leave the German in a promising position to qualify from the group in the top two places, and reach the semi finals.
The final piece of Zverev evidence here is his career record against the undisputed current big two: Sascha is 4-5 overall v Sinner, and tied 6-6 with Alcaraz.
While Jannik is the reigning champ here, Carlos is yet to win this title or even make the final. The latter may yet go all the way this week, and chalk up another career first. But at the prices, and considering his record in this competition, I like Zverev as an underdog.
