The big prices keep on coming...

Friday 15th October 2021

In Ones to Watch today:

  • Indian Wells – price update…
  • Back to Europe next week…
  • Four tournaments starting Monday…

There will be no glory for my Indian Wells picks this year. But once again, this tournament has thrown up plenty of big odds, shocks and surprises. On the men’s side as well as the women’s…

Men’s world no.2, reigning US Open champion and ATP Indian Wells top seed, Daniil Medvedev, was stopped in the 4th Round (Last 16) by Grigor Dimitrov. That match result was a 6/1 upset on the day.

Dimitrov then beat Hubert Hurkacz in the quarter finals last night. Once again overturning underdog odds, and once again coming from behind to win…

The Bulgarian completes a big-price semi-final line-up in the top half of the draw. At the start of the tournament, Dimitrov was 100/1, and his opponent Cameron Norrie was 66/1.

In the women’s, the top six in the ante-post Outright Winner market were all sent packing before the event even got to the quarter-final stage…

Emma Raducanu, Barbora Krejcikova, Iga Swiatek, Garbine Muguruza, Maria Sakkari, and Karolina Pliskova, were all priced at between 6/1 and 14/1.

Today’s WTA Indian Wells semi finals look like this (day one prices in brackets):

Ons Jabeur (20/1) v Paula Badosa (40/1)

Victoria Azarenka (33/1) v Jelena Ostapenko (80/1)

The takeaway message here: the big prices keep on coming…

You & I will be targeting the long end of the prices again next week… and the week after. And the week after that. Because that’s where the rewards come. Patience is required. But as the odds above show, massive Each Way quotes really are the ones to take in this game…

Back to Europe…

Next week, we have four hard-court tournaments to take aim at. The tours head back to Europe, with these events all starting on Monday:

ATP 250 Moscow Kremlin Cup (indoors)
ATP 250 Antwerp European Open (indoors)

WTA 500 Moscow Kremlin Cup (indoors)
WTA 250 Tenerife Tenerife Ladies Open

Lots of tennis to come this autumn. I’ll see you at the start of next week, ready for action at those four tournaments.

Enjoy the tennis…

Best wishes,

Tom Wilson
