Ones to Watch in Vienna - at 25/1 and 80/1...

Good morning. It would be easy to back any of the big names at short prices at the top of the ATP Vienna betting this week. Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, and Jannik Sinner are all trading at single-figure prices in the Outright Winner market. Followed in the next tier by the likes of Matteo Berrettini, Taylor Fritz, Hubert Hurkacz, Cameron Norrie, and Denis Shapovalov, in the general 12/1 - 18/1 bracket.

But with the final weeks of the season upon us, and big tournaments coming at the Paris Masters and then the end-of-year ATP Finals. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some bigger-priced players do well this week and spring a surprise or two…

Ones to Watch in Vienna - at 25/1 and 80/1…

Two that I like from the day one prices this morning are home favourite, Dominic Thiem at 25/1 and 22/1. And the dangerous if erratic Italian, Lorenzo Sonego, with odds of 80/1 and 66/1 on the table.

Both have done well in Vienna before…

Thiem won this title in 2019. Due to the pandemic and injuries, he’s only had one visit since (quarter final). On his comeback in the latter half of this season, it’s great to see Dominic playing and challenging week in, week out once again. He’s made the semi finals in his last two events, both on indoor hard courts. There’s another chance to push on here in similar conditions - with the added incentive of doing it in front of his Austrian supporters.

Sonego is a player we’ve backed before at big prices. He can be hard to catch right. But one thing is for sure: he always hits the ball very hard indeed. That loose power makes him a threat to many opponents, as does his in-your-face style. Lorenzo has already won one indoors title this term, coming last month at Metz in France. At fancy odds, he can mount an against-the-grain challenge again this week. Sonego was runner-up here in Vienna in 2020.
