French trends - and time out...

French trends – and time out…
The ATP & WTA Tours are on the ‘Asian Swing’ now, with a stack of hard-court events across China and beyond. I’ve just updated our tournament Calendar here.
I’m taking a one-week Time Out. I’ll be back from Monday 23rd September, ready to tackle that week’s tournaments and all the upcoming autumn tennis.
Next week the men have two indoor hard-court events in Europe, ATP St Petersburg and ATP Metz.
The Metz event is of particular interest from a Ones to Watch perspective…
Firstly, the last couple of years have thrown up some huge prices in the finals. The 2018 Metz final saw 25/1 Gilles Simon beat 250/1 Matthias Bachinger. In 2017, Peter Gojowczyck was a 150/1 winner, defeating 25/1 Benoit Paire. So, don’t be afraid to go after the big prices, Each Way.
Secondly, the ‘home advantage’ factor is strong here. I’ve spoken several times before about French players doing well at French tournaments. ATP Metz is a strong example of that:
I’m leaving Metz in your own hands next week. The formbook pointers are to look for a French player in the draw – and don’t be afraid to go for an outsider at double-figure odds, and back them Each Way. Let me know how you get on.
I’ll be back with my next analysis, tournament previews and Ones to Watch player picks on the week commencing 23rd September. See you then.
Enjoy the tennis…
Best wishes,
Tom Wilson
