The big-name withdrawals keep on coming. On Wednesday, six-time US Open champion Serena Williams announced that she won’t be fit to compete in New York next week.

Serena joins two other living legends, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, in pulling out of the US Open 2021.

That trio go on the absentee list, along with two more Grand Slam winners, US Open 2016 victor Stan Wawrinka, and the reigning champion, Dominic Thiem.

With such top-class and highly experienced names as those missing from the New York draws, it’s going to be a very interesting Grand Slam fortnight…

As anticipated in that original article, the Belarusian has indeed gone on to have a good season; Sabalenka is just this week up to a new career-high of no.2 in the world, and is now trading at 10/1. We’ve got a bit of value in the book there…
