Notes from the tour - week 6...
Thursday 8th February 2024
We’re only just into the second month of the season, but our Ones to Watch in 2024 Report is proving very useful so far…
Ones to Watch youngsters making moves…
Your free pre-season report, published just before Christmas. Named 10 young and up & coming players to follow in 2024 and beyond. As well as listing a few others as honourable mentions…
With five ATP, six WTA events, and one Grand Slam played so far this year…
Our Report has provided a few finalists and tournament winners already:
The standout being 33/1 Qinwen Zheng - who reached her maiden Grand Slam final at the Australian Open, age 21. Providing a 1/2 odds Each Way payout for paid Ones to Watch members (join here)
Ones to Watch teenager Linda Noskova also made a name for herself in Australia. The 19-year-old achieved a debut quarter final, and knocked out title favourite and world no.1 Iga Swiatek along the way. Many called that the shock of the tournament. The matchday odds were 8/1
Since Melbourne, another of our teenagers, 19-year-old Diana Shnaider, has broken through on the tour to win her first WTA title. Shnaider lifted the trophy last week in Hua Hin, Thailand - having gone off as a 40/1 outsider
And not forgetting the young men on our 2024 list…
Holger Rune reached the final at ATP Brisbane in the first week of the season (4/1). Boris Becker has just left Holger’s coaching team (that didn’t last long). Let’s see what 20-year-old Rune does next…
Jack Draper also made a final in January, finishing runner-up at ATP Adelaide (7/1). The man who beat him: fellow 22-year-old, Jiri Lehecka at 25/1, celebrating his first ATP title. Lehecka featuring in our pre-season report as an honourable mention - read more here
Coming up next week on the tours…
Next week we have the first ‘Masters’ WTA 1000 event of the season, with the top female players heading to Doha for the Qatar TotalEnergies Open…
And the men are in Rotterdam for the first ATP 500 tournament of 2024, the annual indoor ABN AMRO Open. Along with 250-grade events in Delray Beach and Buenos Aires.
A couple of big tournaments there…
I’ll be back with more tennis betting info for you next week…
