En route to Australia...

Some of the youngsters I mentioned are in action this week (including Naomi Osaka, Elina Svitolina and Jelena Ostapenko with match wins under their belt already).

As stated in the report, players like those are on the rise up the rankings, and should provide us with plenty of chances to cash-in this season – and at some attractive prices, too.

One player that I like the look of this week though has been around a while – former World No.1 Caroline Wozniacki...

The 2017 season started pretty much as soon as the New Year fireworks went off. All routes lead to Melbourne, with the first Grand Slam event of the year, the Australian Open, getting underway in less than a fortnight from now.

One to Watch this week – Wozniacki at 8/1...

This week Wozniacki is in New Zealand for the WTA Auckland event, played on hard court.

The Dane reached the semi finals here last year – and the final the year before.

She avoids current World No.2 and top seed Serena Williams in her half of the draw, meaning they can only meet in the final. That’s okay, as it’s the Each Way part of the bet that often grabs the attention with a ‘One to Watch’ pick...

I rate Wozniacki are well capable of coming through her side of the draw – she already has winning head-to-head records over Osaka and Varvara Lepchenko. And has fitness on her side if she comes up against Serena’s older sister, Venus.

The 26-year-old Wozniacki ended 2016 in great form, winning two of her last five tournaments – and reaching the US Open semi finals before that – all on hard court.

She seems to be enjoying the game again right now and is a clear pick on her side of the Auckland draw; certainly preferable to the odds-on Serena who is 8/11 (1.73) at best in the opposite half.

One to Watch:

WTA Auckland – Outright Winner

Each Way terms 1/2 odds 1-2 places with Betway (1/3 odds elsewhere)

  • Caroline Wozniacki @ 8/1 (9.00) Each Way with Betway

That’s all from me for today. But I’ll be back in touch soon with some Aussie Open news for you – and more on our new Ones to Watch plans...

Here’s to a Happy New Season,

Best wishes,

Tom Wilson
