50/1 Anderson in the Semi Finals today…
Friday 13th July 2018
In your Ones to Watch EXTRA email today:
50/1 Anderson in the Semi Finals today…
It’s Men’s Semi Finals day at Wimbledon…
After stunning Roger Federer in the Quarter Finals, our 50/1 Ones to Watch pick Kevin Anderson takes on John Isner today – with a place in a first Wimbledon Final the reward for the winner.
If you’re on Anderson – and from the emails I’ve received it looks like lots of you are – then you might want to consider a saver bet or hedge bet on Isner today…
If you’re on at 50/1 Each Way then you’re looking at a 26-pt return from the place part of your bet if Anderson wins today to reach the Final.
The bookies have this Semi Final very closely matched with both men around 10/11 (1.91) each to win.
If, for example, we say you have 1 point Each Way staked on Anderson and want to recoup your original stake, a 2.5 pt bet on Isner to beat him today would cover you for that.
Or if you wanted instead to guarantee a profit, a bigger 10-pt bet or so on Isner would put you in a position to do that.
I’ll leave it up to you.
As I say, the bookies have this very close. Two big servers – Isner is No.1 in the tournament for Most Aces, and Anderson is 3rd – and we’re sure to see a couple of Tiebreak (7-6) sets swinging the match one way or another.
The career match head-to-head is 8-3 to Isner, but they haven’t met since 2015 and as I said in our pre-tournament Ones to Watch report, Anderson has improved greatly in the last couple of years and is playing his best tennis late on in his career.
A long match is anticipated, dominated by serve. Anderson stands 6’8” tall and Isner is 6’10”…
While Aces and service games held will inevitably lead to narrow set score-lines (eg. 7-6), this match could really be decided by who does best with the ball in play. As Anderson alluded to in his comments – “I feel confident in baseline exchanges quite a lot with John” – Kevin be could be the one with the edge there. I certainly have Anderson down as the better mover of the two and fitness-wise I’d put him ahead of the American, too.
Come on Kevin!
Enjoy the tennis…
Best wishes,
Tom Wilson
