Notes from the Tour: 2 Wimbledon outsiders identified...

Tuesday 8th July 2025

Our 2025 Grass Court Preview highlighted four players for special attention…

Two of them are still standing at Wimbledon - and at big prices, too…

Back on 6th June, before a ball was hit at the first ATP & WTA Tour grass events of the summer. I sent you my latest free Ones to Watch report

That document featured two players who are now through to the Wimbledon quarter finals this week - having been specifically earmarked in that grass-court preview.

While fitness issues hampered Tommy Paul’s stay at SW19 (went out in 2nd round). And young gun Diana Shnaider will have plenty more visits in years to come (the 21-year-old also lost in the 2nd round).

The other two names pinpointed in that June report are going great guns at Wimbledon…

In the men’s…

Ben Shelton is through to the quarter finals. He started the tournament as a 100/1 outsider (and as a recommended bet in my full, members-only service). Shelton is now 20/1 at best for the trophy, and as short as 16/1 and 12/1 with some firms…

And in the women’s…

Liudmila Samsonova is also through to the quarter finals for the first time. She went off at 80/1 on day one. Ones to Watch members are on at 66/1 - 40/1, advised before the 2nd round; we made that move after Top 5 seeds Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula were sent packing in round one, opening up the draw. Samsonova is now just 18/1 to go all the way…

The tours resume with four tournaments next week. And then the rest of the summer builds up to the US Open in August…
