Rain stops play – but things are looking up...

Our three Ones to Watch players for this week didn’t get a chance to get on court yesterday.

Rain wiped out pretty much the whole day’s play at Eastbourne (and in Wimbledon Qualifying at Roehampton, too).

Matches have been rescheduled for today. With our 14/1 pick for the Men’s Eastbourne event Richard Gasquet due on court later. Along with our two Women’s picks, 16/1 Kristina Mladenovic and 50/1 Kristyna Pliskova...

Some of those prices were chopped quickly on Tuesday morning. But Gasquet, Mladenovic and Kristyna Pliskova (not to be confused with her twin sister Karolina, who is a much shorter price) were widely available at 12/1, 14/1 and 33/1 respectively earlier this morning.

  • View yesterday’s Ones to Watch email with details of those three players here
  • The good news for Wimbledon is that the weather forecast is looking way better than this week – with higher temperatures and no rain (fingers crossed)

In those Outright Winner markets we’re betting Each Way.

When it comes to Match Winner bets, there’s a certain rule and particular bookies that it pays to use...

Remember the golden rule of tennis betting...

I’ve covered the topic of ‘Bets Void Rule’ bookies before (and on our site). And my thanks goes to Ones to Watch reader Rob Broadhurst for giving us a timely reminder of the importance of that this week:

Hi Tom, I know you have done this before, but it might be worth reminding your members of the importance of using the right bookie.

I had a ten-fold with Bet365 yesterday. Nine of them won but the 10th player was Blaz Kavcic (a 1.14 favourite). Blaz lost the first set 1-6 and was 0-3 down in the 2nd when he retired due to injury. As you know, Bet365 do not count the match as complete and treat that bet as a void one making my 9-fold bet a winner. Had I gone with, say, Marathon Bet, I would have lost my stake.

Obviously, things can work the other way but, for me, tennis bets should be made with bookies who do not treat injury affected matches as completed ones. Bet365, William Hill, Bet Victor, Stan James, Paddy Power and 10Bet are several who do this. With kind regards, as always – Rob.”

Thanks for that, Rob.

By using Bet365 (one of my nine recommended bookies with the ‘Bet Void Rule’), Rob was able to get a winning payout from his 9-fold bet – as opposed to a losing 10-fold.

With Wimbledon coming up next week and with it dozens of Match Winner betting opportunities, that’s a golden rule to keep in mind.

DAILY Wimbledon service – doors open tomorrow...

Talking of Wimbledon...

I’ll be in touch tomorrow with details of how you can book your place on my exclusive DAILY Wimbledon Betting Guide service...

Our match bets made a 48% ROI at the Australian Open in January and 49% ROI at the French Open just a few weeks ago.

I’ll be looking for more of the same over the Wimbledon fortnight – and of course, going after the big value Each Way prices in the Outright Winner market once the draw is made, too...

The doors open tomorrow. And as a Ones to Watch reader, you get the opportunity to join before anyone else.

Keep an eye on your emails.

P.S

Win Centre Court tickets to Wimbledon...

Last time I mentioned a competition we had a great result. With no fewer than three Ones to Watch readers writing in to let me know they won tickets to Queen’s last week. (Well done again to Michael D, Roger P and Barry F – I hope you enjoyed your free days out.)

Now that Wimbledon is upon us, companies and websites are giving away Centre Court tickets to the big one. Including a free-to-enter competition I’ve seen this week to win tickets to the Women’s Final...

That’s a great prize. It only takes a few seconds to enter (hint: the answer to the question is: Strawberries & Cream).

See you tomorrow...

Best wishes,

Tom Wilson
