A couple of big prices and first-time finalists caught the eye on the WTA Tour recently…
At WTA Ningbo in China last week, 19-year-old Diana Shnaider reached her first WTA final – having gone off at odds of 33/1.
Russian teenager Shnaider was beaten to the trophy by Ons Jabeur, with world no.7 and former US Open runner-up Jabeur winning the first hard-court title of her career.
While over in Japan, the WTA Tokyo title was won by Veronika Kudermetova, with the Russian having started the week at 20/1.
But those outsider odds have nothing on the big surprise result in Mexico last month…
At WTA 1000 Guadalajara, 25-year-old American Caroline Dolehide reached her first ever WTA final – having gone off as a 200/1 rank outsider. That was the biggest-price finalist of the year so far, men’s or women’s…
The ‘Masters 1000’ action continues this week. And over on my members-only Ones to Watch service, we will be on the lookout for upsets and big-odds opportunities…
As well as WTA Beijing which is already underway. The men’s Masters 1000 Series returns to China for the first time since 2019, with ATP Shanghai kicking-off from Wednesday morning…
