Miami update: 80/1 Fils in the semi finals today...

Friday 27th March 2026

It’s time to go to our catchphrase again…

It only takes one…

After making the Indian Wells quarter finals for us last time out, Arthur Fils is now into the Miami Open semi finals

Backed at 80/1 - 66/1 Each Way before a ball was hit in Miami, Fils has been playing some exceptionally consistent and exciting, attacking tennis…

That back-yourself approach helped the 21-year-old Frenchman come through an epic match against Tommy Paul on Wednesday night. The closest scoreline possible, 6-7, 7-6, 7-6. Three tiebreaks. No breaks of serve in the entire match…

Arthur saved four consecutive match points when 2-6 down in the deciding ‘breaker - and then took the win. Scintillating stuff. It was nearly 3am UK time when that one finished, and my pulse was racing.

The total points tally in the match actually settled at 115-114 to Paul. But Fils won the points that mattered most. What a match. One of the tightest and most exhilarating contests of the year, for sure.

The semi final = the money match…

Our man Fils now faces last year’s Czech Ones to Watch name, Jiri Lehecka, for a place in this weekend’s final. The head-to-head is 2-1 in favour of Arthur, including a straight sets win for the French player earlier this season, in their most recent meeting.

The bookies make Fils the 8/13 (1.62) match favourite today. If you’re on Each Way in the Outright Winner as advised at 80/1 or 66/1, then the half-the-odds place terms mean you have a 40/1 or 33/1 payout riding on Fils beating Lehecka tonight. That’s a good semi-final position to be in.

  • If you prefer to lock-in some guaranteed profit, then the move to make today would be to back Lehecka to beat Fils at around 13/10 (2.3), with a decent-size stake to your liking. Match odds here

From outright odds of 80/1 & 66/1 when we got involved, Fils is now 9/1 for the trophy. Outright Winner odds here.

Lehecka v Fils is live on Sky Sports Tennis from 7pm.

I’ll be back next week, with five more tournaments starting from Monday.
