Notes from the Tour: Week 1 whoppers - and Aussie prices...

Tuesday 7th January 2025

Happy New Year - and welcome to your first ‘Notes from the Tour’ update of 2025…

The new tennis season has started right where it left off, with a series of big-odds outcomes in the tournament Outright Winner markets…

Week 1 produced some whoppers, with six of the eight finalists across the men’s and women’s tours delivering from opening-day odds of 22/1 and bigger. Including a 40/1 champion in Hong Kong, and 66/1 and 300/1 runners-up elsewhere…

I’ve just updated the calendar on our site with the early 2025 results and prices:

And remember, the standard Each Way terms in these tournament markets are 1/2 odds for reaching the final, so even a losing finalist can produce a big return (as we saw last season with our 150/1 Ones to Watch pick Jasmine Paolini reaching the French Open final and finishing as runner-up).

  • Last week’s 22/1 Brisbane champ Jiri Lehecka was one of the three Czech men featured in your pre-season Ones to Watch Special Report: The Czech-list, which I emailed out to you on Christmas Eve. Hopefully that’s the first of many big-odds winners from our Ones to Watch players this season…

The first Grand Slam of 2025 is the Australian Open. Play gets underway in Melbourne this weekend…

The Aussie Open boasts a rich history of big-odds payouts itself - and we have a decent recent history of finding them…

Ones to Watch members backed last year’s debut Grand Slam finalist Qinwen Zheng at 33/1 Each Way…

Along with 66/1 pick Danielle Collins at the 2022 event (runner-up)...

And we were also on maiden Major winner Sofia Kenin at 50/1 in 2020, and men’s runner-up Dominic Thiem at 22/1

The Australian Open 2025 draw takes place this Thursday, and I’ll be perusing it with my next Each Way selections in mind…

Stay tuned…
