One to Watch for the US Open at 33/1...
Monday 20th July 2026
The fortnight after Wimbledon is an odd one, with a smattering of clay-court events on the calendar – despite the French Open being long done and dusted.
With the grass season now in the rearview mirror, attention turns to the next hard-court Grand Slam tournament on the schedule, the US Open in New York.
Play starts at Flushing Meadows from 30th August.
After our 50/1 Each Way ante-post pick Karolina Muchova reached the Wimbledon final this month, beaten to the trophy by another of the Czech Ones to Watch names, Linda Noskova. We’re getting another Czech in the book for a women’s Major this summer…
BARBORA KREJCIKOVA has superb Grand Slam pedigree. The quirky Czech has the knack of being able to produce her best results on the very biggest stage. She already has the French Open and Wimbledon singles trophies on her mantelpiece. The 30-year-old may now be eyeing up the US Open…
I’ve been following Krejcikova’s latest injury comeback with interest this summer. Her game and confidence are clearly coming back. The current world no.26 – who has been as high as no.2 in the past – fits the bill of so many players (Muchova springs to mind) who can seriously contend for top honours, if only their body would stay right long enough to let them.
Barbora has been making excellent strides this summer, albeit without making any big headlines. That’s how we like it, flying somewhat under the radar, and I reckon Krejcikova likes it fine that way, too. She’s always been the type to let her tennis do the talking.
An accomplished doubles player, too (former world no.1), this Czech lady has a variety of skills with a racket in hand – but above all, Barbora has that X Factor you need to win really big; the ability to hold it all together when the stakes are really, really high. It’s a rare talent.
With the Roland Garros clay and Wimbledon grass titles already to her name. Krejcikova can go well in an upcoming women’s US Open 2026 that looks as open as ever.
Krejcikova has made the quarter finals twice before in New York, including last year. As well as having two Australian Open quarter-final runs on her CV, also on hard courts.
Indeed, six of her seven career WTA titles below Grand Slam level have come at hard-court tournaments (two indoors). Three of Barbora’s last four singles titles have been at outdoor hard-court events – Dubai 2023, San Diego 2023, and then just last week, WTA Athens.
Since the start of June, the Czech right-hander has played 15 matches in total – winning 12 of them. The injury comeback isn’t just taking shape: it’s here.
She was all smiles after lifting the Athens trophy on Sunday. And with the North American swing about to kick-off next week, and some big WTA ‘Masters’ 1000 events on the schedule as we move into August. Now looks a good time to get this two-time Major champion in the book for the US Open, at attractive odds of 33/1.
Krejcikova is the 5/2 (3.5) favourite to win the home event in Prague this week, a tournament which she won in 2021. Should Barbora collect any more trophies between now and New York, 33/1 (34.0) for the next Major will go pretty sharp.
Note: check the rules…
There’s just one more important note to make here, and that’s regarding which bookmakers to use…
Given Krejcikova’s injury history, and with the US Open still a way off (starts 30th August). It is wise and recommended to bet with bookies who will void your Outright bet in the event of your player being a non-runner. That’s as opposed to firms who only offer ‘all in compete or not’ (eg. stakes lost if your selection doesn’t play).
As ever, the advice is to check the terms & conditions with the bookmaker that you use.
Calling out three mainstream firms we don’t want to use for this Grand Slam selection: BetVictor, Betfred, Betway. They’ll keep your ante-post money if Krejcikova gets injured and misses the US Open. Not nice.
On the other hand, credit where it’s due, with Skybet having particularly favourable (fair) rules in this area, with ‘void’ and ‘refund’ being the magic words in the screenshot below:

The tours move to the United States next week, with Washington starting from 27th July. We’ll be targeting that one, in our build-up to New York for the US Open.
Enjoy the tennis…
